Michael qualified in Geophysics and in the early part of his career worked in the Oil exploration industry conducting seismic surveys. A 1992 career change saw him move to commodities and for eight years here traded iron and steel in the Swiss market.

In 2000 he joined ICAP successful precious metals team which he now leads.
